Chinese Idioms Embedded Reading Series 1

These set of 3 Chinese proverb stories are written in an Embedded Reading style.  It is widely know that the scaffolding of reading material develops reading skills, and people who read acquire more language and develop better language skills.  In this serie, 画蛇添足，坐井观天和邯郸学步 are featured.  Each proverb contains 4 different levels of readings. They are like stepping stones: weak readers could start from a base reading and build their interests and competence step by step. Strong readers could jump right into the level they feel that challenges and engages them. An embedded reading provides an opportunity for everyone to succeed.

These set of 3 Chinese idioms proverb stories are written in an Embedded Reading style.  It is widely know that the scaffolding of reading material develops reading skills, and people who read acquire more language and develop better language skills.

In order to provide more level appropriate authentic readings in Chinese, I adopted this writing style and worked out the 6 proverb stories in Chinese.  In this serie, 画蛇添足，坐井观天和邯郸学步 are featured.

To me, an authentic reading in Chinese should connect and inspire readers, not intimidate them and turn them away. Therefore, each proverb contains 4 different levels of readings. They are like stepping stones: weak readers could start from a base reading and build their interests and competence step by step. Strong readers could jump right into the level they feel that challenges and engages them. An embedded reading provides an opportunity for everyone to succeed.
